01

What you’ll need

  • 240 ml unsweetened oat milk, certified vegan
  • 120 ml pure coconut water, chilled
  • 30 g unsweetened black sesame paste containing only sesame
  • 30 ml pure date syrup
  • 15 ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon culinary orange blossom water labelled alcohol-free
  • 1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla powder, not vanilla extract
  • 1 small pinch fine sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon black sesame seeds, for the rim and garnish
  • 1 tablespoon granulated vegan sugar, for the rim
  • 1 orange wedge and 2 thin orange-zest twists, for the rim and garnish
  • About 2 cups ice cubes, for shaking

02

Mix the drink

  1. Place two Nick and Nora glasses in the freezer for 15 minutes so the finished drink stays properly cold without serving ice.
  2. Mix 2 teaspoons of the black sesame seeds with the vegan sugar on a small plate. Rub the orange wedge around half of each chilled glass rim, then gently roll that half in the sesame-sugar mixture.
  3. Add the oat milk, coconut water, black sesame paste, date syrup, lemon juice, alcohol-free orange blossom water, vanilla powder and salt to a cocktail shaker.
  4. Whisk briefly with a small fork or milk frother until the sesame paste is fully dispersed and no dark streaks remain.
  5. Fill the shaker two-thirds full with ice. Seal and shake vigorously for 15 seconds to chill, dilute and build a light foam.
  6. Double-strain through the shaker strainer and a fine-mesh sieve into the prepared glasses, dividing evenly.

Serve it beautifully

The glass, temperature and first aroma all shape the drink. Set those details before the final pour.

  1. Use frozen Nick and Nora glasses to give the creamy drink an elegant silhouette and concentrate its orange-blossom aroma.
  2. Serve without ice; the drink is thoroughly chilled during shaking, while an ice-free glass protects its silky texture.
  3. Set one thin orange-zest twist on the foam and add a tiny pinch of the remaining black sesame seeds, keeping the garnish light enough to float.
  4. Serve immediately after straining, ideally as a calm after-dinner drink or alongside small savoury plates before the foam settles.
